IEEE Iran Section organizes periodic meetings of the student branch chairs from across the nation. These rounds of meetings which are hosted by local branches in various cities have been previously held in the cities of Yazd, Isfahan, Mashhad and Tehran. The meetings are attended, by the members of the IEEE Iran Section SAC, and also by members of the Membership Development committee. The chairs and counsellors of all the 32 national student branches are also invited.
These meeting provide a forum for the student branches to raise issues of concern directly with the SAC members and also for the branches to share their experiences and ideas dealing with their local challenges and problems. Similarly, the SAC members use the opportunity provided by these meetings to inform branch chairs of upcoming policy changes and seek their opinion prior implementation of the directives. This consultation helps to ensure that new SAC directives face as little unforeseen obstacles as possible when they become operational. Some of the major consultations that have accordingly taken place in these meetings were on composition of the national student branch directive, provision of the student branch petty cash funds, and creation of a nationwide student best paper contest and standardization of the SAC documentation.
The sixth meeting in this series will be held on December 18, 2013 (27 Azar 1392). The day event will start at 9:00 at the School of Islamic Azad University Najafabad Branch, Isfahan, Iran. The agenda of the student branch chairs meeting is to continue discussions on the national student branch directive, brainstorming on the proposals for the branch funding formula and finalization of the SAC reporting documentation. All student branch ExCom members from all national branches are invited to attend the meeting which will be complemented with the presence of Prof Fotuhi, the Section Chair and Fellow of IEEE, Dr Golestani, Chapter office and Fellow of IEEE.
