Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee, as a committee of the IEEE Iran Section, tries to attract the attention of Professors, Students, and Professionals to the ethics-related challenges in the day-to-day science and technology activities in the country and promoting the IEEE Code of Ethics/IEEE Code of Conduct through the following plan of actions:
- Holding the Student Ethics Competitions (SECs)
- Increasing public awareness of the ethical challenges by:
- Publishing Fluent Persian translations of these two codes carried out by the committee
- Ethics corner in the IEEE Iran Section Web site
- Posting ethics-related notes/posters/video clips in IEEE Iran Section Social media
- Publishing brochures on Current ethical challenges of science and technology activities in Iran
- Holding Science & Technology Ethics workshops in IEEE events (conferences, seminars, and …)
- Holding discussion panels on Science and Technology Ethics at IEEE events
- Cooperation with Societies with common missions, like “The Iranian Association of Ethics in Science and Technology.”
- Activating the necessary organizations in the MSRT universities by contacting the respective authorities:
- Ethics Councils
- Forming the ombudsman entity in the universities (promoting the world’s best practices)
Limits on activities
Although the IEEE Iran Section Ethics and Member Conduct Committee, shall promote ethical behavior among members, as well as the country scientific community at large, neither the Committee nor any of its members shall accept complaints from individuals or organizations about ethical misconducts, nor shall they act as an arbitration body in this regard. The Committee will just provide information on the IEEE process for reporting misconducts.
